Job Description

Responsibilities

Perform and direct the installation and maintenance of complex electrical equipment and electronic circuits. Perform duties such as:

      1.    Install, replace, and adjust brushes on exciters and generators while in operation.

                          2.    Undercut and stone commutators.

                          3.    Work on energized equipment and circuits.

                          4.    Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.

                          5.    Take reasonable care of Company tools and equipment assigned to him during working hours.

                          6.    Keep assigned equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

                          7.    Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.

                          8.    Direct and instruct employes assigned to work with him.

                          9.    Assist in the training of other employes.

                        10.    Perform similar or less skilled work in this classification or, when the diversity of work load requires, perform similar or less skilled work in equal or lower classifications.

                        11.    Perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules and operating regulations and practices.

                        12.    Complete any reports and forms used in connection with the performance of duties.

Qualifications

Meet the Company's requirements as to General Qualifications; have the qualifications of Apprentice Station Electrician, and meet the following qualifications:

       1.    Five and one-half years' experience as an Apprentice Station Electrician, or the equivalent.

       2.    Have satisfactorily completed the Apprentice Station Electrician Progression Steps or the equivalent.

       3.    Have satisfactorily completed the Apprentice Station Electrician Training Courses provided by the Company.  An employe who fails any Apprentice Station Electrician Training Course or whose work performance is not satisfactory shall be returned to the classification from which he bid or was promoted.

       4.    Have a thorough working knowledge of the electric system, voltages, circuit numbers, and communication systems in use in the Station.

       5.    Have a thorough working knowledge of wiring diagrams and electrical test instruments.

       6.    Be able to perform, instruct, direct, and advise others in the performance of all types of station electrical work.
