Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Summary:  Serves as Pilot-In-Command or Second-In-Command on rotorcraft.  May also serve as Second-In-Command of multi-engine fixed wing aircraft.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Pilot-In Command is the final authority in determining that the aircraft is in Airworthy condition and is in safe operating condition
  • Conducts preflight inspections, researches departure, enroute, and destination weather for suitability to the intended operation, performs aircraft weight and balance computations and performance calculations and determines whether all are within manufacturers¿ limitations Certificating authorities¿ regulations, and company policies.
  • Files flight plans for all flights beyond the effective range of company and/or ARINC radios.
  • Conducts mission briefings and debriefings with other crewmembers assigned to the flight.
  • Maintains effective crew coordination.
  • Completes all flight assignments in a safe, cost-effective manner with emphasis on passenger safety and comfort.
  • Executes all flight-related forms and submits them upon completion of the mission.
  • Informs maintenance technicians about any mechanical irregularities noted during the flight and documents discrepancies on the appropriate documents.
  • Tracks all expenditures directly related to the flight and prepares the necessary trip expense report.
  • Serves as the on-site company representative working in cooperation with company maintenance personnel with contract maintenance facilities for unplanned maintenance events.
  • Assists in maintaining the physical appearance of the aircraft including interior cleaning and polishing and exterior washing, polishing, and waxing, as necessary
  • Performs additional duties and assignments as requested by department supervisors.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required for Selection:

  • Proficient with personal computers including, but not limited to: Word processors, spreadsheets, and electronic communication. 
  • Ability to work effectively in either a single or two-crew cockpit.

Preferred for Selection:

  • Familiarity with PC mapping applications.

Education/Work Experience:

Required for Selection:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • Commercial Rotorcraft with Instrument Flight Rules rating, 2,500 hours total time with at least 1,500 hours Pilot-In Command with at least 1,000 hours in rotorcraft, at least 500 of which must have been in turbine engine rotorcraft.

Preferred for Selection:

  • Powerline patrol experience.
  • ATP Helicopter rating.
  • Commercial Single Engine Land airplane rating with fixed wing Instrument Flight Rules rating.
