 NiSource is currently seeking Summer Interns within the Transformation Office in Columbus, OH and Merrillville, IN locations.  Successful applicants will become integral members of the department while learning within a team environment, completing meaningful tasks and collaborating with team members and leaders on important projects.  These positions will be a great opportunity for the candidate desiring to launch their career in an Information Technology field.  Successful applicants will build professional relationships with other interns and all levels of NiSource personnel while participating in rewarding professional development exercises and fun, team-building activities.  Interns will obtain a broad overview of NiSource's operations and current events in the utilities industry


The Transformation Office (TO) supports and coaches business-led Customer Value teams including business leaders, frontline workers and subject-matter experts  to help the business build capabilities to identify ways to work smarter and more efficiently to unlock value for our customers.  This role will assist the TO Consultants and Governance Lead positions through multiple activities such as:

  • Consulting with business resources to discover solutions to business challenges and opportunities through critical thinking and problem solving skills, external benchmarking and internal best practices
  • Coaching business resources through problem identification, data collection, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions that address the root cause(s) of the problem(s)
  • Participating in the development of metrics and cost tracking mechanisms to quantify the value of the improvements (e.g. safety, improve quality, reduce costs) associated with specific process improvement initiatives
  • Facilitating capability building training and workshops to business resources
  • Major in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Management or related discipline.
  • Required GPA 3.0 and above.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent analytical abilities, including process analysis and development, problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
