Job Description


The Talent & Workforce Analyst is responsible for the execution of key Human Resources, talent, and workforce analytics and insights that will support HR and key business partners in improved decision making. Including design and administration of NiSource's annual employee survey and connection to our Organizational Health Index to drive organizational insights.

Incumbent will collaborate with the Manager Talent Strategy, Sr. Business Leaders, Talent & Organization Effectiveness team members, HR Leadership, and HR Consultants to ensure solutions meet or exceed business needs and objectives.

Key Results:

  • Data Alignment & Integrity: Ensure alignment of Human Resources data and connection to industry leading benchmarks.
  • Analytics Operations: Ensure a consistent approach to Human Capital Analytics including scorecards, annual analysis (e.g. Talent Review), and Ad Hoc analysis.  Support HR and Business Partners to prioritize the right work, including analytics technology needs (e.g. Human Capital Management Technology support).
  • Workforce and Talent Hypothesis Testing: Enable a Human Capital Analysis path from Diagnostic to Predictive to Prescriptive use of data.
  • Human Capital Analytics Capability: Empower Human Resources and business leaders to ensure value by using data and insights to drive strategic decisions.
  • Design and execution of annual employee survey(s)
  • Identify talent and workforce reporting needs based on current and future data capabilities, work with IT & HRIS to leverage technology that will drive towards sustainable, automated, self-service reporting & analytics solutions.
  • Key Partner with Human Capital Management technology implementation to confirm data needs and integrity issues based on current and future data needs
  • Drive the identification and creation of master data to guide talent and workforce analytics
  • Responsible for PwC Saratoga Benchmarks: Annual analysis and alignment of various Talent and Workforce metrics that will allow improved data benchmarking
  • Implement Quarterly HR Scorecard and guidelines
  • Make recommendations to improve scorecard / dashboard data and its use by HR Consulting
  • Create tests to understand validate or disprove identified hypothesis, based on intake and priority model
  • Complete advanced analytics studies in partnership with internal Business Intelligence team
  • Manage analytics project portfolio, status, and execution
  • Coach and counsel HR Consultants to drive strategic human capital discussions with leaders
  • Identify trends in analytics to further support the HR Function


Required for Selection:

  • Bachelors degree (majors in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Data Science, Statistics, ideal)
  • 3-4 years experience as a business analyst, data scientist or similar function  
  • Highly proficient with statistical methodologies and analysis tools such as Tableau, SPSS, Excel, etc.
  • Working knowledge of survey methodology and tools (Survey Monkey, Qualtrics etc.)
  • Effective project management skills to formulate a plan of action and effective execution of the plan
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to make timely decisions, solve complex problems and prioritize projects/responsibilities
  • Demonstrated customer service and collaboration capabilities (both internally and externally) across organizational levels and boundaries
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Drives results.  Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong ability to communicate statistical information to a non-statistical audience
  • Ability to embrace a higher standard where respecting and protecting employee privacy is concerned

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or related masters degree
  • Experience with human capital management technology and/or implementations
  • Experience supporting HR and Talent Management functions
  • Ability to derive analytical insights to inform functional and/or organizational decisions
  • Project team leadership experience
