Job Description

  • Works with field operations in determining employee technical training needs, assists in developing appropriate training programs using internal and external sources, and conducts training courses. Interfaces with engineering, technical support, customer service and manufacturing to ensure that course material reflects current standards and best practices.
  • Responds to internal requests for training and participates in consultations with internal personnel to determine training needs; helps to develop proper training programs using a combination of training methods such as hands-on training, videos and lectures; monitors and evaluates the training program effectiveness.
  • Responds to the requests by contractors for qualification and requalification; participates in consultations with internal personnel to determine evaluation needs. Interfaces with engineering and construction to determine specific evaluation processes.
  • Shall perform destructive testing in accordance with DOT, API 1104 and applicable industry standards.
  • Participates in follow-up activities to determine if the training programs are effective.
  • Assists in developing in-house technical training programs.
  • Provide Training / Qualification on Tapping pipelines, Weld Inspecting and distribution technical training programs.
  • Designs methods to use in periodically testing and evaluating technical employees to assess the qualifications of the employees in performing their duties.
  • Identifies and evaluates public and private technical educational opportunities, such as vocational schools, that are available for the company to use in training its technical employees.
  • Evaluates new technological training opportunities and coordinates their effective use by field area employees.
  • Ideal candidate will have a combination of experience and education equivalent to a Bachelors degree and 2 years experience in Technical Support/Training or at least seven years related welding technical experience.
  • Experience effectively delivering technical training & evaluation programs.
  • Experience in interpreting and communicating company policy and procedures, state and federal gas pipeline regulations
  • Possesses solid knowledge of product specific and general industry equipment and trouble shooting in one or more of the following areas: Welding, Tapping
  • Knowledge of basic PC applications/skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Ability to run LMS reports to identify training needs
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and be solid team player.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to change courses quickly and work in a very fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated skill in organizing, scheduling and planning work
  • Demonstrate skills in designing and delivering technical instruction to adult learners as-well-as the ability to evaluate skill levels of learners.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum development, effective classroom facilitation, conducting need assessments, training evaluations, and Adult Learning Principles.
  • Industry certifications a plus.
