 Columbia Gas of Kentucky, Inc. is looking for safety-conscious individuals with enthusiasm, customer service skills, mechanical aptitude, an excellent driving record and a willingness to learn.

Natural gas technical experience not required- Our comprehensive training program will provide you with the necessary skills and abilities to be successful.




Perform a variety of duties to assist company personnel, contractors, and others in the location of underground gas utility piping.  Locate and visibly mark-out underground gas utility piping and respond to emergencies to make safe.

  • Performs job functions in a safe manner in accordance with company policies and procedures and other natural gas related codes and standards.
  • Timely and accurate completion of assigned job functions and paperwork.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Successful development of critical job knowledge skills

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Must be able to become OQ qualified in all duties relevant to the job classification
  2. Completes other duties as assigned and accepts temporary assignments in operations, such as completion of non-gas orders.
  3. Responds to emergencies to make safe during normal work hours and after hours.
  4. Locates, performs curb valve/box inspections and maintenance.
  5. Locates and performs critical valve inspections.
  6. Take necessary measurement and make sketches of piping to update Company records. 
  7. Submit changes, utilizing any paper and electronic mapping resources
Education Level

Key Work Experience/Education

Required:  High School Education or equivalent

Preferred:  Experience in field operations within Natural Gas Industry

Residency Requirements: 

Due to the nature of our business and your emergency response obligations, the successful candidate must live within 20 miles from 100 E Main Street, Louisa, KY and maintain permanent residence in this living requirement while employed by Columbia Gas of Kentucky.

Relocation assistance is not available for these positions.



This position is subject to an Operations Job Fit Analysis, Operations Aptitude Assessment, and a Physical Capacity Assessment.

Passing any of the required assessments does not guarantee employment but rather the opportunity to continue through the application process.

This position is also subject to a successful Background Check, Drug Screen, and DOT Physical for applicable DOT positions. Successful candidates must also possess a safe Motor Vehicle history as determined by Columbia Gas.
